Minority Chamber of Commerce Announces Puerto Rico Reconstruction Summit in San Juan November 2017

Miami, Oct. 19, 2017 – The Minority Chamber of Commerce (MCC) announces “Rebuilding Puerto Rico Economic Summit,” an exclusive conference dedicated to providing contracts and partnerships, Nov. 2-5, in Puerto Rico. Focusing primarily on contracts, donors, and funding, the summit takes place at the Double Tree by Hilton, 105 Avenue José de Diego, San Juan, P.R., 00914.

The theme of this high-profile event is “Public-Private Sector Relations & Simplifying Reconstruction of Puerto Rico” and features appearances with key contacts representing federal, territorial, and local municipal government.

Summit participants will benefit from direct interaction with U.S.-certified contractors, sub-contractors, philanthropic organizations, international financial institutions, programmers, and specialized agencies – with a shared purpose of addressing Puerto Rico’s economic reconstruction needs in the aftermath of the devastation caused by Hurricane Maria last month.

Keynote participants of the three-day Reconstruction Summit include: FEMA Director-Region 2 Alejandro de la Campa; Colonel James A. DeLapp, District Commander Chief Staff of the Government of Puerto Rico; William Villafañe, Chief Staff of the Government of Puerto Rico; Fernando Gil Ensenat, Secretary of Housing; and other high-level officials.

Jointly sponsored by the Puerto Rico Industrial Association and the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) in Puerto Rico, this unique Summit is being organized by the Minority Chamber of Commerce.

Conducted over an intense three-day period, Day 1 will be devoted to local contract opportunities, technical discussions, process, and an overview of the impact of the hurricane. Day 2 features statements, reports, and presentations by partners, and municipalities – as well as pledges of contributions to Puerto Rico’s reconstruction by donors, our special guest delegation, and philanthropic organizations. Also on Day 2 and into Day 3, delegates and participants will visit 12 Puerto Rican municipalities heavily impacted by the storm.
