PRESS RELEASE

U.S. Minority Chamber of Commerce Announces International Employment Opportunities in The Bahamas for Experienced Automotive Mechanics

Qualified American mechanics are encouraged to apply for six- to sixteen-month employment opportunities offering $800 per week, housing, and additional benefits.

International employment opportunities in The Bahamas for experienced automotive mechanics

The U.S. Minority Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce an exciting international employment opportunity in The Bahamas through Batery & Tire, a Bahamian company and corporate member of the Chamber, seeking experienced automotive mechanics with strong technical skills and full English proficiency.

As part of its ongoing mission to expand employment opportunities for underserved and disadvantaged communities throughout the United States, the Chamber is mobilizing its national human resources network to connect qualified American workers with international employers seeking skilled talent.

“For the past 60 days, we have conducted a recruitment campaign throughout the region. However, we found that some otherwise qualified candidates lacked the English-language proficiency required for these positions. We have therefore decided to expand our search to the more than 10,000 professionals and skilled workers represented in our local and national human resources database,” said Doug Mayorga, President of the U.S. Minority Chamber of Commerce.

Competitive Compensation and International Experience

Batery & Tire is seeking experienced automotive mechanics who are prepared to travel to The Bahamas and work for a period of six to sixteen months, subject to the employer's terms and applicable immigration and work authorization requirements.

The opportunity includes:

  • Weekly compensation: $800.
  • Housing: Accommodation provided.
  • Additional benefits: As offered by the employer.
  • Chamber support: Logistical assistance and a practical orientation manual to help selected candidates prepare for the cultural and professional environment in The Bahamas.

Applicants should have hands-on automotive repair experience, strong diagnostic skills, the ability to communicate effectively in English, and a willingness to work internationally.

Technical Knowledge Will Be Essential

As part of the recruitment process, the employer has provided the Chamber with a technical preparation manual containing sample questions designed to assess candidates' automotive diagnostic knowledge and professional experience.

Topics include:

  • Diagnosing a shaking sensation reported by a customer while driving.
  • Identifying potential causes and responding appropriately when a customer reports that the brake pedal goes all the way to the floor.
  • Diagnosing a Ford Explorer with rear wheels that appear to be tilted inward, including identifying possible causes and determining what components should be inspected.
  • Inspecting the steering system, suspension, and tires of a Honda Accord before performing a wheel alignment.
  • Diagnosing severe front-end shaking and a sliding or wandering sensation in a Jeep Wrangler.

These questions highlight the importance of practical mechanical knowledge, sound diagnostic judgment, and a commitment to vehicle safety.

The Chamber will provide candidates with the preparation materials and cultural orientation resources intended to help them prepare for the interview process.

Immediate Call for Applications

The U.S. Minority Chamber of Commerce is calling on qualified automotive mechanics across the United States to submit their résumés and technical responses to the sample questions, along with their availability for a Zoom interview.
