The U.S. Minority Chamber of Commerce (U.S. MCC) today announced a new international business opportunity for American minority-owned companies and qualified U.S. businesses seeking to expand into El Salvador and the Central American market.

As part of its ongoing commitment to expanding international trade, investment, and economic opportunities for U.S. minority businesses, the Chamber is highlighting a significant foreign government procurement opportunity in the energy sector involving the development of geothermal resources in El Salvador.

The opportunity is being shared through information provided by the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Commercial and Business Affairs, which works to connect U.S. businesses with commercial opportunities in international markets.

El Salvador’s LaGeo is soliciting an integrated drilling contractor for the drilling and completion of up to eight deep geothermal wells at the Chinameca Geothermal Field.

The project includes:

  • Five production wells
  • Three reinjection wells
  • Provision of a suitable drilling rig
  • Auxiliary drilling equipment
  • Qualified technical and operational personnel
  • Drilling services
  • Required drilling materials
  • Completion of the wells in accordance with the tender specifications

The project is supported by an $80 million World Bank loan, providing an important international procurement opportunity for qualified companies with experience in geothermal drilling, energy infrastructure, engineering, construction, and related technical services.
