PRESS RELEASE
SPECIAL RECOGNITION 2026

LEDY YESENIA PADILLA-HERNÁNDEZ

“WOMAN INSPIRATION OF THE AMERICAS 2026”

United States Minority Chamber of Commerce Announces Prestigious Recognition for a Honduran Entrepreneur Whose Story Represents Perseverance, Business Leadership, and an Extraordinary Commitment to Humanity.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – November 6, 2026.

Honor to whom honor is due.

The United States Minority Chamber of Commerce proudly announces that, following a general vote among its members and executive leadership, Mrs. Ledy Yesenia Padilla-Hernández has been selected to receive the distinguished recognition of “Woman Inspiration of the Americas 2026.”

This special distinction honors women whose personal journeys, professional accomplishments, entrepreneurial spirit, and contributions to society serve as an inspiration throughout the Americas.

The award will be formally presented on December 4, 2026, during the CEO Summit of the Americas, at the prestigious Sheraton Miami Airport Hotel in Miami, Florida.

A STORY THAT DESERVES TO BE TOLD

Mrs. Padilla-Hernández is the CEO of South Eagles, Inc., a member company of the Chamber, whose business history represents an extraordinary example of determination, sacrifice, and economic achievement.

Her story could easily belong in the pages of a book celebrating remarkable human accomplishments.

Twenty-two years ago, she arrived in the United States through the southern border, accompanied by her five-year-old daughter. With limited resources but an extraordinary determination to succeed, she worked as many as three jobs simultaneously, saving the money necessary to establish her own business in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Three years after beginning her journey, she successfully launched a passenger transportation company serving airports and seaports throughout her community.

Over the years, her company grew into a significant local business operation, generating more than 30 direct jobs and over 100 indirect employment opportunities. For nearly two decades, she contributed to the local economy, fulfilled her tax obligations, and established herself as a Hispanic businesswoman in the Palm Beach area.

Her journey is a testament to what determination, entrepreneurship, and hard work can accomplish.

A BUSINESSWOMAN FACING AN EXTRAORDINARY PERSONAL CHALLENGE

Unfortunately, her entrepreneurial journey encountered a profound personal challenge following an appointment with U.S. immigration authorities in October 2026.

According to information provided to the Chamber, Mrs. Padilla was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and subsequently deported to her country of origin, Honduras.

The circumstances surrounding her immigration proceedings, including the opportunity for judicial review, remain matters for the appropriate legal authorities and courts.

Her situation represents a difficult chapter in the life of a woman who dedicated years of work, investment, and service to her American community.

Yet, perhaps the most remarkable aspect of her story is that her commitment to helping others did not end when she left the United States.

Even while residing in Honduras, she continues organizing charitable assistance and support initiatives for hospitals and individuals in need.

Her humanitarian commitment demonstrates that leadership, generosity, and service to humanity are not limited by geographical borders.

DOUG MAYORGA: “HER STORY DESERVES TO BE HEARD”

Doug Mayorga, CEO of the United States Minority Chamber of Commerce, stated:

“Mrs. Padilla's tears are not in vain. We are speaking about a woman who arrived in this country with a little girl, worked tirelessly, built a business, created jobs, paid taxes, and became a productive member of her community.

Even while facing an extraordinarily difficult personal situation, she continues helping hospitals and people in need in Honduras.

Her story deserves to be heard. She represents an entrepreneurial Latina, a determined mother, and a woman who has never surrendered her desire to move forward.

We believe that recognizing her accomplishments is not simply about honoring a businesswoman. It is about recognizing the human spirit, perseverance, and the positive impact one individual can have on an entire community.”

THE CHAMBER SEEKS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR HER STORY TO RECEIVE DUE CONSIDERATION

The United States Minority Chamber of Commerce has sent a formal communication to the Honorable Joseph B. Edlow, Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), respectfully requesting consideration of any appropriate avenues, within the scope of applicable laws and agency authority, that could help ensure Mrs. Padilla has access to the appropriate legal review of her immigration circumstances.

The Chamber has also expressed its hope that any lawful options that may be available could be explored to allow her to travel to Miami on December 4 and personally receive her distinguished recognition.

We fully recognize that immigration decisions and judicial proceedings belong to the competent governmental authorities and courts. Our institution does not seek to interfere with those responsibilities.

Our purpose is to advocate for the recognition of an extraordinary entrepreneurial and humanitarian record and to respectfully request that her circumstances receive appropriate consideration.
