U.S. Minority Chamber Announces the “Ferry of the Americas”
A New Private Maritime Initiative to Connect Trade, Tourism, Passengers and Vehicles Across the Americas
Washington, D.C. — September 11, 2026
The U.S. Minority Chamber of Commerce announces a bold new initiative designed to strengthen commercial connectivity, tourism, mobility and economic cooperation throughout the Americas: the “Ferry of the Americas.”
The project is envisioned as a privately owned maritime transportation system, 100% backed by capital from members of the U.S. Minority Chamber, with an anticipated launch date of March 1, 2027, subject to the completion of financing, regulatory approvals, port arrangements and operational requirements.
Proposed Route and Service
The Ferry of the Americas is designed to establish a strategic maritime route originating in Miami and connecting major ports in the Caribbean and Central America, including Puerto Cortés, Honduras; Puerto Limón, Costa Rica; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Río Haina, Dominican Republic, before returning to its Miami origin.
The service is envisioned to operate every two weeks, with a proposed capacity of approximately 200 passengers, 45 forty-foot containers, breakbulk/general cargo, and up to 75 automobiles, creating a multimodal platform capable of serving businesses, families, tourists, exporters, importers and commercial operators.

With a projected investment of approximately $15 million, the Ferry of the Americas is intended to facilitate international commerce while opening new opportunities for tourism, regional transportation and business development.
One of the project’s distinctive features is the ability for passengers to travel with their own automobiles, providing travelers with greater mobility once they arrive at their destination and creating a new option for families, entrepreneurs, tourists and long-term visitors moving throughout the region.
The vessel, envisioned as a Spanish-built ferry, will be designed to provide a comfortable and family-oriented experience, including private cabins, premium accommodations and onboard amenities suitable for individuals, families and organized groups.
A Private Initiative Seeking Partners
The Ferry of the Americas is being developed as a private initiative. The Chamber is now opening a selective call for potential shareholders, strategic commercial agents and qualified business partners interested in participating in the development and commercialization of the project.
