Surplus Critical Minerals Virtual Industry Day

The U.S. Minority Chamber of Commerce announces an important virtual industry conference focused on opportunities for American small and medium-sized businesses to learn how they can participate in emerging federal opportunities connected to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).

The Chamber’s mission is to help create business opportunities and revenue-generating pathways for its members and strategic partners across the private and public sectors. As part of that mission, the Chamber is encouraging American businesses—particularly minority-owned small and medium-sized enterprises—to actively explore federal contracting, procurement, and industry opportunities.

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management (EM) is hosting a Surplus Critical Minerals Virtual Industry Day to explain an Expression of Interest (EOI) process involving surplus critical minerals, rare earth elements, and other materials located at five DOE environmental cleanup sites.

According to the Department of Energy, the initiative seeks input from American industry regarding the potential transfer and beneficial reuse of these materials. The five participating sites are located in Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, Nevada, and Utah. DOE will use the Industry Day to explain the EOI process, answer questions, and hear from companies about market demand and industrial capabilities to process, recover, or otherwise use these materials.
