Full Event Description
The U.S. Minority Chamber of Commerce announces the World SME Summit Washington, D.C. 2026, also presented as the SME Convention 2026, taking place May 21 through May 23, 2026, at the Melrose Georgetown Hotel in Washington, D.C.

In its 24th edition, this private, invitation-only summit will bring together influential business leaders, investors, policymakers, and international delegates for a high-level program focused on global business development, international trade, investment, innovation, and economic cooperation.

A major strategic forum within the summit will address one of the most consequential issues shaping the future of the global economic system: the evolution of financial systems and the implications of digital currencies on economic freedom and commercial activity. The featured theme of this discussion is:

“The Digital Euro and the Future of Financial Control: Implications for Global Commerce and Economic Freedom”

As part of this initiative, an invitation has been extended to Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank, to participate in a high-level discussion centered on the emerging concept of the digital euro and its broader global implications.

The discussion will explore how digital currencies may influence how individuals and businesses buy, sell, transact, and operate in a rapidly evolving financial landscape, particularly as projections indicate that such systems could see widespread global adoption by 2027. Organizers emphasize that this forum is intended to be open and balanced, providing business leaders with insight, awareness, and strategic understanding of emerging financial frameworks from economic, technological, and policy perspectives.

Summit highlights include 18 international forums, 14 executive seminars, 45 companies showcasing innovation and technology, a distinguished Gala Awards Ceremony recognizing global leaders, and exclusive experiences, including U.S. Congress and White House tours and a Potomac River experience.

The summit continues the Chamber’s mission to empower minority-owned businesses in the United States and strengthen strategic relationships with the global private sector. Its objective is to facilitate buying, selling, investing, distribution, and cross-border economic collaboration, creating real and measurable opportunities for growth.

With more than 26 years of leadership, the U.S. Minority Chamber of Commerce continues to support entrepreneurs and established companies through initiatives in import-export, international cooperation, access to investment, and federal contracting.
