27 Years of Institutional Development

As September comes to a close, I want to reflect on our recent accomplishments, share the experiences shaping our work, introduce new resources and programs, and outline the initiatives guiding us into the final quarter of 2026.

This month’s update looks back on our anniversary celebration and ahead to projects, partnerships, and gatherings across the Americas.

Thank You for Celebrating 27 Years With Us

I want to begin by expressing my sincere gratitude to everyone who joined us on September 4 at the Sheraton Miami Airport Hotel for the celebration of our 27th anniversary. It was an extraordinary evening, with a full house, distinguished leaders from the public and private sectors, international visitors, and friends who share our commitment to entrepreneurship, economic development, and international cooperation.

Your presence made this anniversary more than a celebration. It reaffirmed the value of 27 years of institutional development and our commitment to opening doors for businesses, entrepreneurs, and strategic partners throughout the Americas.

Costa Rica: Advancing Two Strategic Projects

Following my recent business mission to Costa Rica, we have completed preliminary steps toward advancing two ambitious projects targeted for January 2027. Both initiatives require disciplined planning, strong financial partnerships, and a shared commitment to long-term economic opportunity.

Project 01

El Paraíso del Cielo

A proposed vision for residential living

Our first initiative is a proposed residential development of 150 homes near the beach in Costa Rica. It is being designed with a particular focus on federal retirees, military veterans, and other qualified American professionals seeking a distinctive residential and lifestyle opportunity.

Our vision is to bring together residential living, Costa Rica’s natural beauty, and services tailored to eligible American retirees and professionals. Priorities include project development, financial structuring, operational planning, and identifying qualified strategic partners.

Project 02

The Ferry of the Americas

A proposed regional maritime connection

Our second initiative would explore a regional maritime transportation service connecting Central America, the Caribbean, and key regional markets. The proposed vessel is planned to accommodate:

  • 200 automobiles
  • 400 passengers
  • 43 forty-foot shipping containers

Proposed route
Puerto Cortés, Honduras Puerto Limón, Costa Rica San Juan, Puerto Rico Río Haina, Dominican Republic

The initiative offers an opportunity to explore more efficient regional transportation for passengers, vehicles, and commercial cargo, while creating possibilities for trade, tourism, and business cooperation.

Strategic Partnerships Built on Financial Strength

Ambitious projects require more than vision. They demand financial discipline, experienced leadership, credible partners, and carefully structured business plans.

For this reason, the Chamber is seeking qualified strategic partners with demonstrated financial capacity and relevant business experience to participate in developing these initiatives. Our objective is to build sustainable business models supported by thorough due diligence, realistic financial projections, appropriate risk-management measures, and clearly defined responsibilities.

We believe meaningful progress comes from combining opportunity with preparation, ambition with discipline, and leadership with accountability. Businesses and investors interested in exploring these opportunities are invited to contact the Chamber to discuss potential areas of cooperation.

October 2026: Forums, Leadership & International Expansion

October will bring a new series of activities designed to connect leaders, expand business opportunities, and strengthen our institutional presence.

October19Virtual

Digital Currency Forum

Digital Money: Opportunity, Efficiency & Oversight

We will convene a virtual forum examining the global transformation of money, the evolution of digital currencies, and the potential implications of a gradual shift away from physical cash. The discussion will consider whether digital money may bring greater efficiency and opportunity, new forms of financial oversight, or a combination of both.

Our goal is to encourage informed discussion about financial innovation, business competitiveness, digital payment systems, and the opportunities and challenges facing enterprises in an increasingly digital economy.

October23–25Miami

Women’s Leadership Summit

Leadership, Entrepreneurship & Collaboration

Miami will host our Women’s Leadership Summit, bringing together more than 300 women leaders for a gathering focused on leadership, entrepreneurship, business development, and professional collaboration.

The summit will provide a platform to exchange experiences, develop strategic relationships, and explore opportunities for women entrepreneurs and executives across multiple industries. Expanding women’s participation in business leadership is an important part of a stronger, more inclusive entrepreneurial economy.

October30San José

Regional presence

Preparing to Open Our San José, Costa Rica Office

We are preparing for the opening of our new office in San José, an important step in expanding the Chamber’s regional presence and strengthening connections between North American businesses, Costa Rican enterprises, and international visitors.

The office is intended to help facilitate business connections, visitor assistance, trade opportunities, investment exploration, and institutional cooperation. This expansion reflects our continuing commitment to bringing business resources closer to the communities and markets we serve.

A United Membership Is Our Greatest Asset

The strength of the Chamber is not measured solely by the number of events we organize or projects we announce. Our true strength lies in the relationships we build, the opportunities we help develop, the knowledge we share, and the trust we establish with members and strategic partners.

We must continue working together to expand access to business connections, financing resources, export opportunities, educational programs, strategic alliances, and international markets. Every member has a role to play. Every productive relationship can open a new door. Every well-prepared initiative can create value for the businesses and communities we serve.

Focused on the Final Quarter of 2026

The months ahead will demand focus, cooperation, and responsible execution. Our priority is to transform promising initiatives into well-structured opportunities, strengthen our membership, expand our international relationships, and continue building a Chamber that delivers meaningful value to its business community.

I invite our members, partners, and friends to remain engaged, share their ideas, identify opportunities for collaboration, and help us turn our collective vision into measurable progress.

“A united, prosperous, and secure membership is a membership prepared to grow.”

Thank you for your confidence, your commitment, and your continued support of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for Minorities.

May God bless you, your families, your businesses, and the work we undertake together.

With appreciation and renewed commitment,

Doug Mayorga
