U.S. Minority Chamber of Commerce Announces Major SBA Opportunity for Veteran-Owned Small Businesses
SBA Awards $3.75 Million to Expand Federal Contracting Training for Veteran Entrepreneurs
WASHINGTON, D.C. — October 5, 2026 —

The United States Minority Chamber of Commerce (U.S. MCC) is pleased to highlight a major new opportunity announced by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to strengthen the ability of veteran-owned small businesses to compete for federal government contracts.
The SBA has awarded $3.75 million over five years to the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce Community Foundation Veterans Institute for Procurement (MCCCF-VIP) to operate the Veteran Federal Procurement Entrepreneurship Training Program (VFPETP), a nationwide initiative designed to help veteran entrepreneurs develop the knowledge, capabilities, and procurement readiness necessary to compete for federal contracts.
The initial award of $750,000 covers the first 12-month period, from September 1, 2026, through August 31, 2027.
The program will provide no-cost entrepreneurial development services and is expected to serve approximately 250 veteran-owned small businesses annually through five training cohorts each year.
Participants will receive training and mentorship in areas including:
- Identifying federal contracting opportunities;
- Developing professional capability statements;
- Preparing competitive federal proposals;
- Developing appropriate pricing strategies;
- Understanding federal procurement requirements;
- Building operational readiness to perform government contracts; and
- Strengthening the overall competitiveness of veteran-owned businesses.
The U.S. Minority Chamber of Commerce Supports America's Veterans
The United States Minority Chamber of Commerce recognizes the importance of supporting America's veterans as they transition their leadership, discipline, technical knowledge, and professional experience into entrepreneurship and economic development.
“Giving is how we receive, and serving others is an essential part of our mission,” said Doug Mayorga, President of the United States Minority Chamber of Commerce.
“For the past 27 years, the Chamber has worked to help businesses, organizations, and strategic partners reach their next level through international trade, federal contracting, economic development, grants, and strategic alliances. We are especially proud to support opportunities that help our nation's veterans become stronger entrepreneurs and participants in the American economy.”
Mayorga added:
“The Chamber continues its effort to assist institutions and entrepreneurs in identifying opportunities for grants and federal contracts. As part of our commitment to our members, we provide assistance and information at no cost, an area in which we have specialized throughout our 27 years of service.”
SBA Office of Veterans Business Development
The SBA's Office of Veterans Business Development (OVBD) works through the agency's extensive resource-partner network, including 51 Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) locations nationwide.
These centers support programs such as Boots to Business, Boots to Business Reboot, and Military Spouse Pathway to Business, which provide entrepreneurship education to service members, veterans, National Guard and Reserve members, and military spouses.
Since the launch of Boots to Business in 2013, these programs have collectively trained and graduated nearly 260,000 participants.
The broader SBA resource network also includes Small Business Development Centers, SCORE, and Women's Business Centers.
Building Pathways to Federal Contracts
The U.S. Minority Chamber of Commerce encourages veteran entrepreneurs and veteran-owned businesses to become informed about federal procurement opportunities and available SBA resources.
Federal contracting can provide qualified small businesses with opportunities to expand their customer base, develop long-term commercial relationships, create jobs, and contribute to the strength of the American industrial and economic base.
The Chamber's mission is to help its members and strategic partners move to the next level of economic growth, including through:
International Trade • Exporting • Federal Contracting • Business Development • Grants • Strategic Partnerships • Investment • Community Development
The Chamber believes that connecting entrepreneurs with available federal resources, training programs, procurement opportunities, and strategic partners can help create stronger businesses and stronger communities.
