THE WOMEN’S SUMMIT

26 Years of Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Family and Economic Empowerment

A Legacy of Creating Opportunities for Women Across the Americas

For more than 26 years, the United States Minority Chamber of Commerce has developed, supported, and promoted initiatives dedicated to women and their advancement in business, entrepreneurship, leadership, education, government, and the corporate sector.

From Washington, D.C., Miami, Puerto Rico, Honduras, Costa Rica, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic, the Chamber has brought together women from different generations, professions, cultures, and backgrounds around one enduring message:

Women have the ability to create businesses, lead institutions, build families, contribute to society, and create opportunities for themselves and others.

Although the locations, participants, programs, and economic environments have changed throughout the years, the fundamental mission of these activities has remained constant: to open doors for women and provide a platform where their ideas, leadership, entrepreneurship, professional development, and contributions to society can be recognized and strengthened.

A Tradition of Leadership

The Chamber's women's initiatives have celebrated both established and emerging leaders.

Our programs have encouraged women to pursue entrepreneurship and to become leaders in:

  • Business and Entrepreneurship
  • Government and Public Service
  • Education
  • Corporate Leadership
  • International Trade and Investment
  • Technology and Innovation
  • Community Development
  • Family and Social Leadership

The Chamber recognizes that women's contributions extend beyond professional achievement. We also recognize the importance of motherhood, family, values, responsibility, and the ability of women to build businesses while strengthening the communities and families around them.

Our vision has never been limited to creating successful professionals. It is about supporting complete leadership — leadership that creates economic opportunity while contributing to family, community, and society.

Celebrating Women Who Create Positive Change

One of the Chamber's most important traditions has been bringing together current and future leaders to exchange ideas, establish relationships, share experiences, and explore opportunities for a more equitable and prosperous future in business, government, and society.

The 2019 Women's Summit, for example, was convened under the theme “Forward,” recognizing women who create positive change and encouraging women to continue moving forward despite the challenges facing society.

True to the Chamber's tradition, the Summit inspired a passionate and forward-thinking community to continue its journey of:

  • Learning.
  • Connectivity.
  • Growth.
  • Leadership.
  • Empowerment.

These principles have remained at the heart of the Chamber's women's programs throughout the years.

From Local Entrepreneurship to Global Leadership

The Chamber's activities have demonstrated that women's economic participation can take many forms.

For one woman, empowerment may begin with creating a small business.

For another, it may mean becoming an executive, entering government service, pursuing an education, developing an international business, or becoming a leader in her community.

For a mother, it may mean building a business that provides greater opportunities for her children and future generations.

For an established executive or public leader, it may mean opening doors for the next generation of women.

All of these paths are part of the same story: women creating opportunity and leadership.

A Community Open to All

The United States Minority Chamber of Commerce welcomes people from diverse backgrounds and is committed to creating an environment where participants can connect, learn, collaborate, and develop meaningful professional relationships.

Our women's initiatives have brought together people of different generations, cultures, ethnicities, professions, abilities, and backgrounds.

We believe that purposeful inclusion creates stronger communities and broader opportunities for cooperation.

The Chamber's goal has always been to provide an environment where participants feel respected, valued, welcomed, and encouraged to contribute.

26 Years of Memories — 26 Years of Purpose

The photographs presented in this report document only a portion of the many activities organized and supported by the Chamber over more than two decades.

Behind every photograph there is a story:

  • A woman who started a business.
  • A leader who opened a door for another woman.
  • An entrepreneur who found a new opportunity.
  • A professional who expanded her network.
  • A mother who demonstrated that family and entrepreneurship can coexist.
  • A young woman who discovered a new vision for her future.
  • A leader who decided to serve her community.

These moments represent more than events.

They represent a 26-year commitment to women's leadership, entrepreneurship, opportunity, family, and economic empowerment.

Looking Forward

As the Chamber continues its work throughout the Americas, the mission remains unchanged.

We will continue creating spaces where women can learn, connect, create businesses, lead, invest, participate in public life, advance professionally, strengthen their families, and contribute to the economic development of their communities.

The Women's Summit is not simply a celebration of what women have accomplished.

It is also an invitation to recognize what the next generation can accomplish.

26 Years of Leadership.
26 Years of Opportunity.
26 Years of Women Moving Forward.
