U.S. Minority Chamber of Commerce Announces $5,000 Grant Opportunity for Businesses and Nonprofit Organizations

Washington, D.C. — October 1, 2026 — With a continued commitment to identifying new opportunities for its members, strategic partners, entrepreneurs, and the broader U.S. private-sector community, the United States Minority Chamber of Commerce announces a new grant opportunity supported by Verizon, one of the nation’s leading Fortune 1000 companies.
The R4R Mitigation Grant offers eligible organizations the opportunity to receive up to $5,000 to strengthen their ability to support business communities before, during, and after a natural or human-caused emergency.
HOW THE OPPORTUNITY WORKS
Businesses must first complete one of the following free Disaster Resilience courses through Verizon’s Small Business Digital Ready platform:
Know Your Hazards
A course designed to help businesses identify hazards common to their region and understand the potential consequences of being unprepared.
Build Your Business Continuity & Mitigation Plan
A practical course that helps businesses identify major risks, implement low-cost safeguards, and develop a plan for what to do before, during, and after a disaster.
After completing one of the eligible courses, businesses can sign up and apply for the R4R Mitigation Grant during the application period:
September 29, 2026 – November 15, 2026
After the application period closes, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation will review applications, select grant recipients, and publicly recognize the organizations receiving awards.
Applicants will be notified of their grant status by January 2027.
U.S. MINORITY CHAMBER OFFERS TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE
The United States Minority Chamber of Commerce is also offering a technical assistance program for entrepreneurs and organizations interested in strengthening their institutional capacity and preparing for legitimate grant and funding opportunities.
The program is designed for entrepreneurs who wish to expand their talent and community impact by establishing a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, as well as existing nonprofit organizations seeking to strengthen their programs, organizational structure, compliance, community impact, and readiness to pursue grants.
“At the Chamber, we offer a comprehensive program for entrepreneurs who want to expand their talent by creating a nonprofit institution, as well as for organizations that already have a nonprofit structure and want to strengthen their programs, improve their community environment, and qualify for funding opportunities. Our objective is to help them become better prepared to access legitimate resources and take their organizations to the next level.”
