Douglas Mayorga has served as President and Global Director of the U.S. Minority Chamber of Commerce (U.S. MCC) since founding the organization in 2000. Under his leadership, the Chamber has evolved into a prominent force in international economic development, building crucial bridges between the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean through innovative private sector initiatives.
Throughout his tenure, Mayorga has established and maintained self-sustaining Chamber operations in multiple countries, including Colombia, Honduras, Dominican Republic, and Mexico, achieving significant economic impact without reliance on government funding. His strategic approach has facilitated the creation of over 2,500 businesses across these regions, generating more than 12,500 jobs and establishing vital trade relationships that benefit both U.S. and international partners.
As an authority on international trade and economic development, Mayorga has conducted more than 1,000 conferences and training sessions focused on U.S. market entry, export compliance, and business development. His expertise has proven particularly valuable in creating sustainable economic opportunities that promote legitimate trade while addressing regional security challenges. Under his guidance, the Chamber has trained over 10,000 international producers in U.S. export compliance and food safety standards.
Mayorga’s diplomatic acumen has enabled him to build extensive networks with both public and private sector leaders. He has established working relationships with over 1,000 municipal leaders throughout Latin America and maintains partnerships with 140 private sector organizations. These connections have been instrumental in facilitating legitimate business opportunities and promoting American interests abroad.
Prior to establishing the U.S. MCC, Mayorga served as president and CEO of Commodities-USA Magazine and anchored CNN Latino’s “Business in America” program, where he developed deep insights into international business dynamics and cross-cultural communication. His work has earned recognition from numerous organizations, including the Florida Minority Community Reinvestment Coalition.
A graduate of the University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras with a background in Business and Journalism, Mayorga has pursued advanced studies in Economic Engineering and Finance. His Jewish heritage informs his commitment to ethical business practices and economic empowerment, principles that continue to guide the Chamber’s mission of fostering legitimate international trade and sustainable economic development.
